Modified Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins and their Application in Bitumen-Polymeric Mixtures

Phenol-formaldehyde resins (PhFR) with reactive methacrylate fragments or labile peroxy bonds in the side branches used as a polymeric component of bitumen-polymeric mixtures have been investigated. Taking into account that PhFR with peroxy fragments based on epoxy resin does not described in literature, its synthesis procedure has been developed. The kinetic regularities of the reaction between peroxy derivative of epoxy resin (PDER) and phenol group of PhFR were studied taking the reaction of PDER with phenol as an example.

Modification of Chitosan Films as a Way of their Transport Properties Regulation

Chitosan films obtained from solutions in acetic acid and containing the antibiotics – cephazolin and cephotoxim – have been investigated and the principal possibility of regulating their transport properties as regards the medicinal preparations release has been demonstrated. This regulation can be carried out by films thermal modification consisting in heating of the formed films at the temperature of about 393 K and their treatment with sodium dodecylsulphate solution.

Synthesis and Application of Epoxy-Oligoesteric Mixtures of ED-20 Epoxy Resin Peroxide Derivative During Crosslinking

The reaction of chemical modification of ED-20 epoxy resin with isopropylbenzene hydroperoxide has been studied. The process duration effect on the reaction between resin and hydroperoxide has been determined. The possibility to use the synthesized product as a component in the process of epoxy-oligoesteric compositions crosslinking with application of hardeners various by their nature has been studied.

Adsorptive Modification of High-Dispersed Magnesium Hydrosilicate

The modification action of polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP) on morphological peculiarities of magnesium hydrosilicate powder has been investigated. PVP modification mechanism has been studied depending on its introduction method to the system. The most effective modification method is observed during joint precipitation of the system liquid components and PVP.

The Influence of Polystyrene Modifier and Plasticizer Nature on the Properties of Poly(vinyl chloride)

Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) has been modified by dissolution of polystyrene modifier in diesterphthalate plasticizer, followed by dispersive mixing with PVC. The effects of the kind of modifier and plasticizer used on the wetting of PVC by the plasticizer have been evaluated. The degree of plasticizer migration out of the material and the effects of the migration on mechanical and thermophysical properties of modified materials have been determined.

Study of Phenol-Formaldehyde Oligomers Derivatives Structure by IR- and NMR-Spectroscopy

Using IR-and NMR-spectroscopy (1H and 13C) the structure of functional oligomers based on novolac phenol-formaldehyde and polyglycidyl phenol-formaldehyde oligomers has been characterized. The structure of modified phenol-formaldehyde oligomers has been confirmed by the presence of absorption bands and proton shifts corresponding to furan ring, methacrylic fragment, peroxy, hydroxyl, and phenol groups.

Regularities of Obtaining, Morphology and Properties of Metal-Containing Polymer-Silicate Materials and Polyester Composites on their Basis

The effect of the kind, concentration and introduction method of polymeric modifiers (polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinylpyrrolidone), as well as the kind of metal chloride on the physico-chemical regularities of the obtaining process of modified metal-containing polymer-silicate materials, their morphology and properties has been examined. Using instrumental methods of investigations it was established that obtaining of metal-containing polymer-silicate materials was accompanied by intermolecular interactions between active silicate groups and functional groups of a polymeric modifier.
