COMPOSTING AS ONE OF THE PROSPECTIVE METHODS OF RECYCLING THE ORGANIC COMPONENT OF MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE

In the conditions of constant deterioration of the environment, municipal solid waste management (MSW) in Ukraine remains one of the most pressing challenges in environmental safety because of its significant accumulation in landfills and the lack of effective mechanisms for its disposal. Approximately 40- 50% of municipal solid waste is organic, so the removal of this part of waste from landfills through composting and conversion of waste into secondary material resources will significantly reduce the environmental load on existing and potentially planned landfills.

WASTE MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS IN THE TERNOPIL REGION

The National Strategy and the National Waste Management Plan in Ukraine until 2030, the regional
program for solid waste management in the Ternopil region for 2018-2020 on the reality of conducting key infrastructure measures and achieving the desired result for society are studied. Possibilities of formation and development of circular business models in Ukraine on the example of the best European practices in the field of waste management are substantiated.

ANALYSIS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF UNSORTED CULLET

Prediction of cullet accumulation at municipal solid waste landfills was carried out by linear and multiple re-gression methods. Over time, the amount of waste at the landfills will increase and the soil condition will dete-riorate due to Na+ leaching This is confirmed by the experimental study of leaching of sodium ions from the cullet surface of different fractions with pure water and solutions with pH = 4.8 and pH = 9.2.
